HERE EVER AFTER

(Tim Krekel) Mighty Nice Music/BMI

Well they fell in love in the holding tank
The first Friday in May
It was their first offense so they got out in time
To whoop it up on Derby Day
He took her to a party with a bookie in the corner
And they laid their money down
Won thirty-seven dollars, bought a fifth of Jim Beam
And headed out on the town

And it was all they could do
to keep from bubbling over
They promised to be true,
even when they got sobber
Yeah, they tore up the town,
they swung from the rafters
You could tell from the sound
that it was love and laughter
From here ever after

Well she got a job at the mini-mart,
and he got a job at the track
Her sister had a house down on 7th and Hill,
they rented the room in the back
Nine months later a baby was born,
a lil' girl named Sammi Jo
Now they push her down the street in a grocery cart
Singing baby let the good times roll

Well she bought a ticket at the mini-mart
for the Kentucky Lottery
Then forgot all about it, till she was going through her pockets searching for her keys
She matched up the numbers with the ones in the paper and could not believe her luck
Now they’re driving down 65 to Panama City Beach Florida in a brand new Ford pick up truck
